Vice President of Corporate Development, Licensing & Ventures
Megann Vaughn Watters is the Vice President of Corporate Development, Licensing & Ventures at LabCorp. Megann leads the LabCorp Venture Fund and Corporate Development team tasked to identify, assess, and execute equity investments, licensing, and strategic partnership opportunities relating to diagnostic testing services and devices, novel biomarkers, clinical trial enhancements, mobile and digital health, consumer wellness and convenience, health IT and bioinformatics. Since joining LabCorp in 2011, Megann has more than doubled the team and increased its purview. The team now vets hundreds of new opportunities a year, develops business cases and pipeline strategies for over 40 internal areas of medicine or technology, generates financial models for all new test launches, and negotiates non-M&A corporate deals for the enterprise. Megann also manages approximately $100M in over 30 active investments.
Megann serves on several LabCorp Venture Fund portfolio company Boards, the NC Biotech Piedmont- Triad Advisory Council for promoting bioscience economic development in North Carolina, and the Catalyst Fund Steering Committee to advance Wake Forest Medical Center inventions with commercial potential. Megann previously held positions at the United States Patent and Trademark Office as a Patent Examiner for medical devices and Humacyte conducting tissue engineering research. Megann received her M.B.A. from the Duke University Fuqua School of Business and her B.S.E. in Biomedical Engineering from Duke University Pratt School of Engineering.
